Westport Credit Union has dynamic and inspirational volunteers who give tirelessly their time and commitment for the benefit of our members, the credit union and local community. Without their commitment and support, we wouldn’t be able to achieve our objectives and grow .

What’s Involved
Make a contribution to the running of Westport Credit Union through participation in any of a number of committees (listed below). Training is provided, and new volunteers are mentored.
The Credit Union would welcome individuals with qualifications, experience or an aptitude in a variety of professional areas such as Accounting/Bookkeeping, Legal, Auctioneering, IT, Marketing, Strategy, Audit, etc.
Committees where you can make a contribution: Strategy, Investment, Marketing and Promotion, Membership, IT and Board Oversight.
The time commitment for the role will vary depending on the type of committee the volunteer gets involved with but is usually about 2 meetings a month. Most meetings are in the evenings.
Please note – you must be a member of Westport Credit Union in order to volunteer with them.
Westport Credit Union would particularly welcome applications from minority groups.
What’s required for this position
Must be (or become) a member of the Credit Union and be of Good Standing, must show commitment to the voluntary ethos of the Credit Union Movement. A willingness to learn and contribute to the community, and a desire to acquire new skills or enhance existing ones. Or to explore or discover new aptitudes and apply them for the for mutual benefit, of the volunteer and the community. Previous experience and/or training in finance or organisational governance is desirable but is not essential for all volunteer roles.

Extensive training is provided to volunteers, and this role gives great experience opportunities. Volunteers will be part of a welcoming team. All volunteers are encouraged to partake in extra training and courses for their benefit and the credit union as a whole.
