Compliance Officer
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Compliance Officer in Westport Credit Union.
The successful candidates will be responsible for providing assurance to the Board of Directors that the Credit Union is operating within the legal and regulatory framework within which the Credit Union operates.
Job Description:
The Compliance Officer will be responsible for all aspects of compliance related to the credit union’s operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Create and implement a compliance charter and annual compliance plan to support operations.
- Organise and coordinate the implementation of laws, regulations and guidance applicable to the credit union’s operations.
- Work with the manager to assist in the development and implementation of compliance controls.
- Monitor and report on adherence to compliance controls.
- Ensure that compliance issues are addressed and corrective actions are taken as appropriate.
- Assure compliance direction is aligned with business strategies.
- Identify and analyse significant legislative initiatives and their potential impact on operations.
- Foster compliance as a core competency throughout the credit union.
Ideal Requirements:
The successful candidate should possess a relevant professional qualification, be highly analytical and flexible, with the capacity to communicate a secure vision and take ownership of Compliance initiatives.
Skills:
- Ability to interpret and disseminate the impact and requirements of new laws and regulations
- Maturity and gravitas to ensure that the compliance function is fully embedded into the credit union.
- Good understanding of the evolving credit union business model.
- Ability to meet deadlines, highly computer literate, dedicated and flexible.
- Experience in financial services and/or compliance.
This position will be a controlled function (CUCF-2) within the Central Bank of Ireland’s fitness and probity regime.

Member Services Team Leader
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Team Leader in Westport Credit Union.
The successful candidates will be responsible for leading and directing a team in delivering quality member services.
Job Description:
The Member Services Team Leader will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation and function of the member services area of the Credit Union.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide effective daily supervision of the Credit Union Member Services office while ensuring that a high-quality service is provided to its Members.
- To promote all members services, maximise income growth and ensure member retention.
- Line management of all Counter staff according to approved HR Policies and Procedures.
- Manage the key objectives and performance of the counter through recording quarterly KPIs and reporting performance to the CEO.
- Recommend process improvements for internal/external use in order to streamline operations.
- To ensure compliance with all relevant and regulatory requirements, including all applicable internal policies and procedures.
Ideal Requirements:
The successful candidate should possess a relevant professional qualification with a minimum of three years management/supervisory experience.
Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication and people management skills.
- Experience in dealing with members/customers in a front-line financial services environment.
- A background in leading teams and generating sales/leads.
- Excellent communication skills both written & oral.
- Good understanding of the evolving credit union business model.
- Ability to meet deadlines, highly computer literate, dedicated and flexible.
